5th Episode : STOCK MKT

Types of Investments
There are many ways to invest the money, which are different from each other depending on there on risk factor and returns they provide.
To know which investment options are suitable, one has to find the characteristics and other details of those investments methods.
Mainly you can invest in Bonds, stocks, Mutual funds, Futures, Gold, Real Estate, Forex etc
Let’s study one by one so that at the end of this chapter one should be able to find which investment option suits best for him.

1. Bonds -
A company needs fund to expand into new markets, new products etc, while government need money for everything from infrastructure to social programs.
In such scenarios they issue BONDS. A bond is nothing more than a loan for which you are the lender (provider) and the organization that sells a bond is known as the issuer.

Benefits - Company or government firms provide interest on bonds.
Who can invest in bonds?
This is the safest and low returns of investment type. This type of investment is mostly preferred by persons who doesn’t wish to risk there money and expect low returns.

2. Stocks -
Stocks are exactly opposite of bonds. Stocks will provide high returns with high risk.
If you buy some stocks then you will become share holder responsible for profit as well as loss for that company.
If company makes profit then it may pay you back in terms of dividends, but it is not guaranteed.
Some companies reinvest the profit for further growth and expansion plans which will increase the stock price of that company. If the company makes loss then the stock price may come down.

3. Mutual Funds -
Mutual fund consists of fund manager and investors.
The fund manager collects the money from all investors and invest in stocks, bonds etc.
It is the decision and responsibility of the fund manager to invest your money and generate the profit from investments.
As some part of your investment is done in stock market so risk factor is present. As the investment is done with highly qualified and experience person the risk is modera

4. Options and Futures - ( F & O )
These are high risk and high returns related investments.
This investment method is advanced, which requires good knowledge of stock market.
Note - If you are new to investment then you should first learn basics and start investing in such instruments. It is usually short term investment with high risk factor.
We wl learn in detail about it later on.

It is clear from above description that which investment method includes what type of risk and what type of returns.
All of above if you take stock market and invest for long term in value and growth stocks then the returns will be excellent with low risk.

Benefits of Investing in Stock Market for Long term :
1) Investing for long term in stock market consist of low risk with high returns, provided you invest in value and growth  stock. It is proved by many analysts and noted investors like Warren Buffet that value investing gives you excellent returns and also it is verified and confirmed by companies through there past annual reports and prices.
2) No need to worry for daily ups and downs in share prices or market volatility.
3) No need to monitor daily share prices sitting hours and hours in front of stock market, watching news etc. It’s not required daily but periodically you can update yourself about your stocks through news etc to track your stock prices.

4th Episode : STOCK MKT

In the last session we learnt about Index.. The Major question generally disturbs the beginners is :
Why, When and How the stock mkt Falls and Rise? Though the STOCK MKT is the Most Unpredictable field, lets find some general factors that cause the Rise and Fall.
Stock markets can be volatile, and the reasons particular stocks rise and fall can be complex. The stock prices are affected by a number of factors and events, some of which influence stock prices directly and others that do so indirectly.
Internal Developments :
Developments that can occur within companies will affect the price of its stock, including mergers and acquisitions, earnings reports, the suspension of dividends, the development or approval of a new innovative product, the hiring or firing of company executives and allegations of fraud or negligence. Stock price movements will be most drastic when these internal developments are unexpected.
World Events :
Company stock prices and the stock market in general can be affected by world events such as war and civil unrest, natural disasters and terrorism. These influences can be direct and indirect, and they often occur in chain reactions. The social uncertainty and fear generated by the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, affected markets directly as they caused many investors in the United States to trade less and to focus on stocks and bonds with less risk. An example of an indirect influence on markets is the announcement of a new military venture by a country in response to the outbreak of civil unrest or conflict abroad. This announcement likely would cause the price of the stocks of military equipment and weapons manufacturers to rise due to an expected increase in defense contracts, which in turn can raise the value of stocks for companies that supply military equipment parts and technology. It likely would raise the demand for, and price of, natural resources used to make these parts, which would raise the price of stocks representing particular mining and natural resource processing companies.
Inflation and Interest Rates :
One of the more predictable influences of the stock market are periodic adjustments of interest rates by the U.S. Federal Reserve to combat inflation. When interest rates are raised, many investors sell or trade their higher risk stocks for government-backed securities such as bonds to take advantage of the higher interest rates they yield and to ensure that their investments are protected.
Exchange Rates :
Foreign currency rates have a direct impact on the price and value of stocks in foreign countries, and changes in exchange rates will increase or decrease the cost of doing business in a country, which will affect the price of stocks of companies doing business abroad. While long-term movements in exchange rates are affected by fundamental market forces of supply and demand and purchase price parity, short-term movements are driven by news, events and futures trading and are difficult to predict.
Hype :
Stocks and the stock market also can be affected by hype about a company or the release of new products or services. Many people and organizations have an interest in promoting particular stocks and industries to increase the value of their own shares and profits, and positive financial reports and stock market newsletters, Internet blogs, press releases and news reports can build high expectations for the performance of companies, which will raise the price of their stocks. This can occur even when the hype has no foundation in truth;

3rd episode : STOCK MKT

The first questions any share investor asks are, 'Is the market up or down?' and 'How are my shares doing?'. The answers to these and many other questions about the market depend on having a good sharemarket index. It measures the market and tells you if it's up, down, ahead or behind. But what is an index?
A stock market index is a bunch of stocks grouped together to measure a certain sector (utilities, banks, metal etc.) of the stock market.
A sector index is a specialized index tracking the performance of a specific sector of the stock market. ( Scroll down to the bottom for the different sectors of the stock mkt ).

For example, a number of companies such as Ranbaxy, glaxo, cipla etc. will be grouped together to create a pharmaceutical stock index.
As the stocks in this  group change value, the index also changes value. If the index goes up by 1% then that means the "total value" of all the securities (stocks) that make up the index have gone up in value by 1%.

The Dow Jones U.S. Oil & Gas Index, for example, consists of roughly 100 companies in the oil and gas industry. The index measures the performance of the oil and gas sector of the United States equity market, including oil and gas producers, oil equipment, oil services, and distribution.

Another index is ' A broad based index'  is exactly how it sounds, it's broad and covers a larger number of stocks. It represents the performance of a "whole market". When people refer to the stock market or its performance, they are most likely referring to a broad based index.

If u take a step in more detail then one more index is there ' Blue-Chip Index '.
A stock Index that tracks the shares of the top-performing publicly traded companies. Blue-chip stocks represent companies that are financially stable, well established and provide good returns for investors, making them desirable investments, because blue-chip co., tend to perform similarly to the economy as a whole. The performance of a blue-chip index may be considered a gauge of an industry's or a region's economic strength.

All about 'STOCK MKT'

Hello Folks,
Here is the most awaited topic STOCK MKT.
I wl try to share most of d basic informations regarding Stock Mkt and points to ponder while investing wid 'Intraday' trading, especially for the beginners and ladies/housewives who hv keen interest but less info in this field.  As this is a vast field we wl talk about this topic in episodes.  We hv to start from the basic nd for dat u wl hv to have a lotta patience. So lets start from the first episode.

Most people understand that a stock market is a place where shares are bought and sold, and in essence this is true. Most people understand a stock market is dominated by traders who speculate on the price of shares to make a profit on the difference between the buying and selling price, and in essence this is true. But a stock is so much more in-depth than these two basic propositions would suggest, and requires some deeper analysis to get to the bottom of what's really going on.

A stock market is a primarily a virtual exchange of securities (that is, shares and debentures, which companies use as a means of raising finance) and derivatives (i.e. virtual instruments such as contracts that relate to assets and securities and can be traded). It is virtual in the sense that the market is an intangible concept, rather than a physical place, and as a result of advancing technologies traders can now get involved with little more than a laptop or mobile phone. The market brings together a range of traders of all shapes and sizes - from small, one-man bands trading for their own personal gains through to hedge funds managing billions in assets, and everything in between.

The price of a share at any given stage is dictated by supply and demand within the market, and rises or falls every time a share is bought or sold. This effectively means that shares are priced by the collective will and attitudes of the market, comprised of all the traders and investment houses that actively trade in those securities.

Stock markets generally trade over a set duration of hours, usually reflecting the working day in their particular region, allowing the zealous trader to trade different markets round the clock - from London to New York to Tokyo - while affording those companies so listed to raise capital in the form of initial share issues to the market. As a result, the markets operate on a slick basis almost around the clock, bringing together buyers and sellers of securities and giving businesses and governments a free, unadulterated bellwether for the economic and commercial outlook of a given sector, industry or economy.

In essence, that's the foundation of what a stock market is, and it's by no means a comprehensive study. Getting to know the markets requires lengthy research and an understanding of business, economics, law and politics. Yet for those that do get to grips with how the markets operate, the allure of trading profits is sufficient rewards for all their hard work.

That's enough for today, for further info see u soon with the second episode.

Riddles
A man decides to buy a nice horse. He pays $60 for it, and he is very content with the strong animal. After a year, the value of the horse has increased to $70 and he decides to sell the horse. But already a few days later he regrets his decision to sell the beautiful horse, and he buys it again. Unfortunately he has to pay $80 to get it back, so he loses $10. After another year of owning the horse, he finally decides to sell the horse for $90.
The Question : What is the overall profit the man makes?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here’s a quick quiz to test your memory and thinking skills which should work out your temporal and frontal lobes. See how you do!

- Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends.
What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?
- What fruit has its seeds on the outside?
- - Only three words in Standard English begin with the letters “dw” and they are all common words. Name two of them.
 - There are 14 punctuation marks in English grammar. Can you name at least half of them?
- Name the one vegetable or fruit that is never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form except fresh.
- Name 6 or more things that you can wear on your feet beginning with the letter “S.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Njoy ur hols frndzzzzz.............Hv a lotta fun .......
Answers To Quiz:

1. The one sport in which neither the spectators, nor the participants, know the score or the leader until the contest ends: boxing

2. The North American landmark constantly moving backward: Niagara Falls (the rim is worn down about two and a half feet each year because of the millions of gallons of water that rush over it every minute.)

3. The fruit with its seeds on the outside: strawberry.

4. Three English words beginning with “dw”: dwarf, dwell, and dwindle.

5. Fourteen punctuation marks in English grammar: period, comma, colon, semicolon, dash, hyphen, apostrophe, question mark, exclamation point, quotation marks, brackets, parenthesis, braces, and ellipses.

6. The only vegetable or fruit never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form but fresh: lettuce.

7. Six or more things you can wear on your feet beginning with "s": shoes, socks, sandals, sneakers, slippers, skis, skates, snowshoes, stockings, stilts.

Solution to: Horse Trade

Consider the trade-story as if it describes two separate trades, where:
  • In the first trade, the man buys something for $60 and sells it again for $70, so he makes a profit of $10.
  • In the second trade, the man buys something for $80 and sells it again for $90, so he makes again a profit of $10.
Conclusion: The man makes an overall profit of $10 + $10 = $20.
You can also look at the problem as follows: the total expenses are $60 + $80 = $140 and the total earnings are $70 + $90 = $160. The overall profit is therefore $160 - $140 = $20.

VOICE OF ART

Hello All,
I m gonna talk about some extraordinary talent and art which is concealed deep in villages. Yesterday I visited a Thai art nd craft exhibition and believe me it was a Phenomenal experience for me. All d artisans had come from thai villages wid their handmade products. Some of them were so Unique that i hv never seen them  in any commercial mkt or malls around here in Thailand. They were simply marvellous and adorable. I could see the real and original talent. Especially the paper jewellery and greeting cards were just superb, pure imagination and unusual patterns and designs. I was so delighted and my eyes were glued. The impact was so powerful and positive that my mind was hypnotised and just forgot about the outer world.
There were hand woven baskets, cards, jewellery, pure silk and pure cotton clothes, handmade magnets, scarves, shawls, paintings and many more products Including  cosmetics. The paintings were just amazing and resembled printed canvasses.  Practical training was provided for some of the products. They were even teaching how to make some of the products on the spot.
Since the visit, I was thinking over it again and again that there is a lotta talent hidden deep inside the villages awaiting to get explored. The same situation may be present in other countries as well. We must promote the real artists and let not die the heritage of art. At least we should pay a visit whenever this kinda exhibitions take place, just to boost up the artisans.
U can get the info about this  kinda exhibitions from local news papers.

Save the Heritage and save the Artisans...

BEHAVIOURAL TENDENCIES

Nowadays youngsters r seen following some ' weird ' kind of living pattern/lifestyle. which they express as ' COOL ' by meaning. This 'cool ' word has become so popular and catchy in young generation that any ' personal' activities or expressions they can enroll under this ' COO.......L ' effect- which allows them to perform the same publicly. Eg :- ' How coo.....l!!!, U R soooo Cool'.
This word has taken the place of decent and sober behaviour. Today a thoughtful article grabbed my attention which i m sharing here with u.

A basic guide on how to act like a true local and fit in....
Published: 10 May 2013 at 00.00Newspaper section: Guru, Bangkok Post.

Thai life involves a healthy amount of eccentric behavior - no shoes in the house, no stepping on doorways, lowering your head a bit as you walk past someone older than you, no getting a haircut on Wednesday - to name but four. But there are also other codes to follow should you want to appear uber Thai that you may not be aware of. Here, we present a basic guide on how to behave like a true Thai while you are at different social venues around the city.

AT MOVIE THEATRES :-

Movie-going in Thailand involves more than just sitting in a dark room and watching moving pictures. It's also one of the most popular activities among Thais despite their complaints about high ticket prices. We've picked up some "unqiue" traits found among Thai audiences.

AT RESTAURANTS :-

The range of eateries in Bangkok is very varied, from a noodle shophouse to a hotel buffet to a hi-so place that imports ingredients from across the globe. However, there's a shared pattern of how Thai patrons behave at these places.

AT MALLS :-

Malls are integral institutions to the Thai way of life. You can do pretty much anything at a mall since they gather all kinds of products and services. You can't call yourself a true Thai if you don't visit a mall at least once a week and learn how to have the proper Thai mall experience.

AT PUBS AND BARS :-

Enjoyed everyone? It's COO............L  na!!!!

Though this article is written according to the Thais, I personally feel that this is suitable for all young blood everywhere..!!!

Housewife's world

Hello everyone,
since long i keep hearing same complains from ladies, especially housewives about killing their personal- free time. Tough this is a techno era, the Indian middle aged Housewives r not aware of the power and vast use of computers and other electronic appliances. They r reluctant to face these devices which r real timekillers and knowledgable. I would advice them to stay tuned with the era and get themselves updated with the outer world through the use of these technology.
Apart from it there r many ways through which Housewives can kill their time in a more 'productive'and ' creative' way. I m sharing some hobbies with u after trying personally, which prooved very effective. If u wl get involved wid any of these activities whole heartedly, i m sure u wl definitely feel confident, fresh and energetic.

Flower Arrangement :-
This is a real feminine art, and you can start by yourself and do it in your own home. If you don’t want to keep replenishing flowers, you can even use fake pretty flowers and arrange them and place them in vases throughout the house.
This is an accessible hobby for anyone, even if you’re not a florist and professionally trained. All you need is your femininity and your creativity!

Writing :-
Writing is a great hobby for women who love words, have a way with words and enjoy being creative. You can write letters, stories, fiction or non-fictions.
You can write poems, make photo books, and even write letters to your friends. Writing is a good way to channel your thoughts and can make you a better communicator.
If you were good at writing in school, this may be a good option for you. Perhaps you can even just keep a diary and write down ideas for stories,m books, poems or letters.
If you enjoy letter writing, that may be an option, and you can even get in to the cool stuff like fine stationery like fountain pens. Even though computers have taken over our lives, writing hand-written letters can show it comes from your heart, and people appreciate hand-written letters more than ever!

Volunteering:-
If you’re the kind of woman who is contribution-minded, this is for you. If you’re not contribution-minded, perhaps it’s time to be?
Everyone has a gift they can give to others. Volunteering is one of the most womanly, noble and admirable things a woman can do. It’s also a great way to seek fulfillment and to appreciate your own life more.
Volunteering can open your eyes to the plight of others, There are many ways you can give. You can give your time, money, knowledge ,effort  in the time of need to others –

Gardening :-
Another hobby that brings out a woman’s creative side – gardening can be very relaxing and rewarding – if you commit to taking care of your garden. Grow your own veggie patch for good health – or just make your home look pretty, feminine and inviting!
If you want to find a good way to add your own feminine touch to your home or the world, gardening is great – and is often a great source of admiration for other people. This hobby is even accessible for apartment-living. Only the technique is a little different and there may be less space.
Whilst fun, gardening can also be quite challenging and you will need to know a thing or two if you don’t.

Food decoration :-
Maybe even a little more creative than cooking, food decorating is often a bit of a fascination for women! You can decorate salads, cakes, cookies, pastries, etc. The best thing about this is that you can give it your own touch and give others something to remember you by! You can create your own signature pastry, cookies or cake with your special twist. Try ur art while u throw a party- decorate the dishes with fruits or veg nicely cut in different pattern..
If you would like to get serious about food decorating, you can always join a decorating class. And you can always turn this hobby into a business if you want to.

Photography :-
If you feel you’re not particularly the arty type but would like to be, consider photography. It ranks high among the group of easy-to-start hobbies for women. You can start with just your digital camera, if you have one. And with digital editing software becoming cheaper and more accessible, almost anyone can start photography!
The great thing about photography is that you can combine it with other interests. If you love nature, snap some photos on your next outdoors trip or hike. Love people? Snap some great photos of your friends!

Painting :-
A fantastic way to unleash your creative side, painting can give you a lot of self-satisfaction, and paintings will last a lifetime. You can put them up around the house. A lot of women refuse to get artistic on art because they think they’ll never be good at it, or that they’ll never be able to be wonderful painters/drawers.
This is untrue. Classes with a great teacher can really help you improve your painting and drawing skills.
Drawing as a hobby will cost a lot less than painting will. You can get yourself some art pencils and a notebook and draw or even doodle in your free time. Art stores, hobby stores and even private tutors can provide art and painting classes.
If that costs too much for you, you could even get a hold of some cheap lessons from a ‘how to’ video on youtube

Sparkly, glittery and shiny things are always a delight for women. What a great way to express your femininity! It also makes men more attracted and drawn to you.
Not only that, but you can give away the jewelry you make as gifts for others! It’s a very personal gift, since it would be made by you. It’s a great way to give memorable gifts and it also shows your creativity and allows you to express your creativity.

Blogging:-
Writing is definitely a womanly hobby. Blogging is a wonderful way to express yourself and to share your knowledge and passion with other people. You can ‘meet’ people from all over the world through a blog, and form great online (and perhaps face-to-face in future) contacts this way!
Alternatively, you could use your blog to update your family, friends and colleagues about your life. It’s a great tool to use whilst traveling or when you’re away from your loved ones. Parents love to read their kids blogs.
All-in-all, blogging is a great hobby/passion for women – and you can even co-write a blog with a friend, and just ramble, if you want.

Learning foreign Language :-
Women are great at connecting with other human beings – but sometimes, when there’s a language barrier, this can be hard. So if you plan to visit any new country long-term, or just want to become bilingual or trilingual, why not learn a new language?
there is no perticular age of learning anything,
Reading :-
Curling up with a good book is always nice! But reading (non-fiction) really helps to broaden the mind and make you more interesting in conversation. Fiction books are great, too. Reading can really improve your writing skills, if you are into writing. Reading also allows you to connect with, and get inside the minds of great women and men throughout history.
The only thing you need to be careful of is to not get too over-involved with a fiction book if it hasn’t got a very positive message. All women need to have a touch of melancholy to them as well, but if you get over-involved in a book that’s full of negativity, it could dampen your mood a little too much.
If you have access to a library card, you can read nearly any book you want without burning a hole in your pocket.
cooking :-
last but no the least......,Cooking is a wonderful womanly hobby and art that you can enjoy with your friends, aunties, cousins, mum, grandma, etc. Experiments with various food variations wl increase ur imagination and creativity. Most importantly, it’s great if you can learn to cook very healthy and nutritious meals for your friends/family. Anyhow its gr8 pleasure for every Indian Houewife to cook for their husband, after all it is said that " a path to a man's heart is through his stomach'. so try ur hand over it.
Invest in a great cook book, or go to an online place for recipes! There r a lot of sites from which u can learn and try various recipies.

i hope these hobbies wl help u solve ur problem..
